Has anyone here ever been in a situation where you were reading something and then you found out that the creator was a jerk? And you wanted to keep reading it because you still liked the story, but you weren't sure if you should?

What did you do? x_x

I usually keep on reading. Even complete assholes can be capable of creating something wonderful and enjoyable, and liking their work doesn't mean liking them.

This is very smart. I think I will keep reading. Thank you.

Who/what are you talking about exactly?

My advice is that if you want to keep reading, feel free to. Just do it from the library or something where you don't have to feed their wallet.

It's a webcomic, so I'm afraid that won't work. :\ But I think I'll keep reading it anyway. How much do they make from ads?

I think some level of it depends on how much of a jerk the guy is and if he's done enough win to offset the fail.

Man, it's the discussion we love to have on f!s!
Anyway. If there's one thing high school English class has taught me, it's that art should be considered separately from the artist. Dali was a fascist, Jack London was racist, Orson Scott Card hates gay people, HP Lovecraft was just an all-around jerk - but all of them have produced great art. In fact, their very depravity sometimes makes their art better. Nabokov once said that everything he wrote was autobiographical. Now think about Lolita.

Somehow I think I missed or forgot the f!s discussions. :\ You make some good points though and I think I will keep reading.
