Turns out Nob Ogasawara, the guy who translated all the games up through Platinum, was replaced for HG/SS by TPCi, the company that dubs the anime. Mainly they drew criticism there for changing the old man outside Celadon Gym's line from "This gym is great! It's full of women!" to "...full of strong trainers!" Yeah. I've seen concern expressed over how they'll handle the ferris wheel dialogues and something about Cynthia's bathing suit. :\
