The Office: US vs. UK

Having seen my first episode (although not the first episode) of the US Office the other day, these are my first thoughts on the differences between the two:
  • It seems like they made it a little more like a sitcom and a little less like a documentary. I guess that's what they had to do for the American audiences, so I'm not complaining. Cultural differences and all.
  • Michael is, I have heard, the reason to watch the US version, and I can see that. He's certainly more likable than David Brent, although whether he is funnier, I couldn't say. (Then again, a rock could probably be funnier than David Brent.)
  • Dwight is great. Dwight is quirky in a Napoleon Dynamite-esque way and a complete geek. The guy posts his theories about LOST on his blog, for Pete's sake. Dwight is the kind of guy I would want to have as a friend. Gareth, however, is the kind I would want as a boyfriend. (I don't know how much of this is due to their physical differences; I've tried being objective on this front and failed miserably.)
  • Jim is not as cute as Tim and never will be. And he tries too hard.
  • Pam is fairly cute, though. I'll give her that.

Also, Gareth and Tim are THE Rod and Nicky. Someone needs to make a video of that.
