TRANSCENDENTALLY, HOPELESSLY WOUND UP

So in an awesome stroke of coincidence, my Graham wig and coveralls both arrived yesterday! This is especially awesome because the wig was being shipped from Hong Kong and wasn't scheduled to get here until tomorrow at the earliest (and the Wednesday after the con at the latest). Now I'm really glad I didn't pay for that expedited shipping. :P So now all I have to do is finish the wrench, pin the coveralls (which are way too big), and find some boots. And Connecticon is only 10 days from now! I'm excited. :D

Also, Wandering Son has supposedly finally shipped! Which... is a pretty big deal, considering I'd been waiting for it for almost six months. :| Of course, I can't celebrate just yet, seeing as I was an idiot and accidentally had it shipped to my school address instead of my home one. Luckily, I can pick it up when we're in the area this summer, but still, that was pretty dumb. Even for me. (In my defense, would you have expected it to actually ship before the end of the summer?)

On another note, Genkaku Picasso is an amazing manga. I've just finished the series (only 3 volumes!) and oh man, so good. In one chapter a yaoi fangirl learns that it's totally okay to be a yaoi fangirl, as long as you don't let your fantasies get in the way of your real life (and when our hero enters said fantasies, the characters aren't warped into cookie-cutter yaoi stereotypes - they're the characters you know and love from their series, who just also happen to like to make out with guys. One of them, a Kamina type, even helps the hero succeed in his mission!). More significantly, in another chapter there's a trans character who is judged at first, but once her classmates learn about her situation, they're totally okay with her and don't have a problem referring to her by her preferred name and gender from then on. Maybe that's on the unrealistic side, but it's always nice to see nuanced trans characters in Japanese media, and also it's really sweet. Heck, the whole series is sweet like that; it's one of those heartwarming weird-outsider-kid-ends-up-gathering-a-bunch-of-friends-who-accept-and-like-them affairs that I'm a sucker for (see: Kimi ni Todoke, 7 Billion Needles). Heartwarming wrapped up in occasional disturbing, true, but with Usamaru Furuya, really, what can you expect. :P BASICALLY YOU GUYS SHOULD READ IT okay.

I've also been playing a lot of Sims 3 lately - or at least trying to, since it turns my computer into a slow piece of crap half the time. Finally started a legacy, which is something I've been wanting to do since forever. At some point I'll have to install a mod so I can get more than 8 people in the house, which... I have no idea how to do and am somewhat worried about. @_@ But my founder and his girlfriend only just got married, so I figure there's time yet.

Now I'm going to knock out a couple days on this meme, since at the rate I've been posting I'll be lucky to finish this before school starts again. x_x No picspams today, sorry, considering the nature of the questions.

Day 12: Least favourite digital monster.

Oh hey it is all the negative ones! Well, I can't say I ever thought about these much, but one Digimon instantly popped into my head as I read this question, and it sounds about right. So:



Nanimon. That's just creepy, man.

Day 13: Least favourite character.

Oh man, I'm really sorry, but... I honestly don't have one. At least not that comes to mind. Digimon has so many awesome characters, I can't think of any I particularly disliked. ;_; Sorry, guys.

Day 14: Least favourite season.

I can make absolutely zero good judgement on this because I dropped Frontier halfway through, only caught the first few episodes of Xros Wars and never saw Savers at all. ;_; If I've got to choose one, though, it's Frontier. Yes, I know, it's everyone's least favorite, but I just cannot get over the fact that they turn into the Digimon. Half the point of this show is the kids' relationships with their Digimon partners! Instead all we get are these guys:



And by gosh, they were annoying. So until I ever watch any more of these seasons, Frontier's my pick here. Though on the bright side, I love its character designs, something which I can not say for Savers. (Also, the latter's art style. Oh Savers, y u have weird art style. D:)

Oh, also I have a job interview on Thursday, which is pretty cool. I doubt I'll get in, but I will try~!

Hope you have fun at Connecticon! (That con has always intrigued me, given that I live in Connecticut and I've never been to a con before [so I'm curious to know what it's like], but alas, I forgot about it and made no plans to go this year. :( Not like I could, but still.....)

Also, I haven't seen you on Tumblr lately. Not that that's a bad thing, of course. XD

Thank you! I will try to have fun. :D Also you should definitely go to a con sometime, they can be pretty awesome. Hopefully I'll be able to write a con report for this one, so you can get an idea of what it is like. And maybe you an try to go next year! You never know, right?

Oh gosh, I am sorry. I've kind of been putting off going back on because I know it will take me hours to catch up. x_x Also I'm sucked into TV Tropes at the moment, and I can only maintain one internet timesuck at a time, it seems. I'll return, I promise!

I LOVE GENKAKU PICASSO AND I WAS SO SAD NO ONE ON MY F-FLIST HAD READ IT AAAAAAAH. <3 Only read the first two volumes (since that's all I can find in stores around here), so I kinda skimmed your entry to avoid spoilers but yessssss.

jhasuodf Connecticon is that close?? Darn it, cons, why do you always happen at times when I have conflict?

I can deal with no partners in Frontier theoretically since the kids were ALL really lonely (unlike earlier ones), learned to form bonds with each other, and didn't have to have themselves ripped from those partners and alone again at the end, but ugh. Bokomon and Neemon. SO ANNOYING.

I've read the first two volumes and just took out the third from the library. Kind of sad it's only three, but at least it keeps the quality high throughout because something so formulaic could easily get lazy later on and go bad.

Oh man I had to put it down and be stunned/internal happy flipping out for a while after the chapters about Jeanne, because it was so wonderful but mind-boggling that the world has changed enough that she got an unrealistically happy fairy-tale ending. And I freaking love when we get to see the drawings, and how it's never so obvious that I guess the whole chapter in advance, and just how INTERESTING all of the characters are. I GUESS THAT COUNTS AS FLAILING??

Well, it's a bit of a relief, since it means I don't have to rush to finish a costume that's barely started if I can't make it. But thanks.

Honestly, I think a lot of people who've watched it all the way through don't pick up on it, so no worries. It's just that all the others were dealing with their issues relating to others by the mid-late twenties, whereas other seasons had more of a broad spectrum of issues, but not as much variation within each one. Now that I think about it, Takuya was probably an exception to the lonely thing (or at least had it less than the others) so that he could be shoehorned into leader. *shrug*

(... I have a love/hate relationship with Frontier. Love the ideas, hate the execution? Or something.)

Dude that is totally flailing yes I agree with you a lot aaaahhh. Especially about Jeanne as you can tell from my post I guess. ffffffff apparently I am not as good at flailing as previously believed but pretty much it is really good as I think we can both agree. You should read the last volume also. The endiiiiiiing

See I was never very good with all these deeper meaning things so maybe I would not have picked up on it anyway. But now if I rewatch the series I will probably have a better perspective on it, so, thank you. It is more interesting now. :D
