Don't you hate it when you're rereading fanfics you used to like years ago, and it turns out they're filled with gratuitous fangirl Japanese? Yeah, me too.
Almost directly related, in my youth I had a crush on Vegeta for a time, and afterwards I could never remember what it was I saw in him. Well, I just figured it out: Chris Sabat's voice. Seriously, compare. 1999 version (which, yes, is Chris Sabat, but imitating Brian Drummond)? Thoroughly unattractive, actually kinda freaky. 2007 version? INSTANT HOTNESS *_*. *goes off to watch more DBZ*
Also, another hot guy topic (look at me actually connecting my random stuff, whee). Serious question here: why does everyone hate Szayel so much? A few cases in point:

Maybe I just fail at looking at the subject objectively, but honestly. What did he do that was so OMGEVILYOUMUSTDIE? People attack and kill each other all the time, this is Bleach here. It's not like he even killed anyone for permanent (except his Fracción): the people whose organs he crushed got better, and so did Nemu after he impregnated her. People seem to get particularly squicked by the whole impregnating thing, I've noticed. Which, you know, far be it from me to disregard someone else's squick, I guess, but I've seen people not even wanting to mention the word. I just don't see how it merits that level of squick. Of course, it's entirely possible I've been on the internet too long to be affected. Still. I don't get it. Is there something I'm missing, or is impregnating someone with himself really all it takes to turn a guy into an irredeemable villain against whom the viewers/readers will root for even the likes of Mayuri Kurotsuchi? It's really just because he's prettier than them, isn't it. D:

"Koi" in an English-speaking context just makes me think of, well, koi. The fish. So yeah, decidedly not cool. The fic I was thinking of was pretty much as bad. Why does using "gomen nasai" make you so much ~*~awesomer~*~ than "sorry" would have? -_-;;
