So, what I was saying last time about the pictures. Y'all know how I've often despaired about Danbooru's almost exclusively catering towards the male gaze? Friends, meet Bishibooru! You will never go hungry (for pictures of hot guys or hot guys making out with other hot guys) again. :B That's where I got some of the Taito pictures from last post, and also a good chunk of the stuff in my Ladd/Claire folder (which I've updated since then, so theditz even if you checked it out last time you should check it out again. :B). I believe that said folder now contains the majority of Ladd/Claire art available on the internet, but if anyone knows of any I've missed, send them my way~!

And, uh, something less good. I was checking up on Hourou Musuko/Wandering Son on Amazon (volume 1 comes out next month, hopefully!) and noticed this charming sentence in the description of volume 2:

The “woman” who showed so much interest in Yoshino (when she was wearing a boy’s school uniform) in volume one reappears with “her” boyfriend, and becomes a mentor and friend to the two children.

...Um. I know people can get kind of fluid with the pronouns for the kids, so I'll let the "she" for Takatsuki go, but... I'm pretty sure the series has very clearly established Yuki-san's gender identity. There is absolutely no need for the scare quotes around "woman" and "her". That's kind of disgusting. Does anyone know who one would complain to about something like this? Should I just post in the product discussion forum? D:<

First: I have a new icon. Yes, for me this is a big deal. ._.;; Also, the icon is awesome.

That's actually all I was going to post here, but then I found... well, you all know "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins", right? Pretty good song, had a really great Sgt. Frog AMV that I'm very ticked was taken down. But I hadn't seen the actual music video until today. And. Um. That has to be one of the funniest, most ridiculous things I've ever seen. I don't... I don't even know. Also, I guess this is the appropriate time to wish Mr. Nimoy a happy belated birthday.

People who replace Kyon with Haruki and Haruhi with Kyonko in Haruki Suzumiya screenshots:

Look, I appreciate your contributions to the genderbending cause, and I understand it must be much easier to have Kyonko dragging Haruki by his tie instead of drawing a whole new scene of him carrying her, but... you're kind of doing it wrong. When you do that, you're completely messing their personalities around. Haruhi wouldn't get exasperated by Kyon's antics ever, right? Kyon wouldn't have antics. So why would that happen when they're genderswapped? Just... remember that personality matters, people.

Disclaimer: I haven't seen the whole show. Kyon may acquire antics at some point. In which case, disregard.

Also, I've never understood the name "Haruhiko". "Ko" is for girls' names, right? So why would you put it on the end of a girl's name already if you were going to make her into a dude? Eh, maybe it's a Japanese thing.

Dear A Lot Of Writers:

Writing out accents and dialects. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it can give things a cultural flavor. (Case in point, Cross the Heartland, an excellent Kingdom Hearts/Disney AU fic.) A couple 'Eys and 'Eres here and there can be fine. But when your fic or RP starts looking like I've accidentally crawled into the Apostrophe Forest, I hit the back button posthaste.

It is in fact spelled "posthaste". With one e.

Dear A Certain RP:

Why would you have a bodyswap where the characters take on the speech patterns, vocabulary, etc. of whosever body they're in? That seems like it would defeat the purpose a little.

And on a related note, I'd like to plug hogwarts_hocus, in my opinion the best multifandom RP around. If you like to roleplay, I urge you to check it out.

On an unrelated note, O.A. and I have discovered the awesomeness that is Shakespeare slash. Hamlet/Horatio, Hamlet/Laertes, Romeo/Mercutio, Romeo/Benvolio, Romeo/Mercutio/Benvolio...so wrong and yet so darn right. (Also, Juliet/Tybalt. Not slash, but it is cousincest. :D) Most of the blame goes to the "Manga Shakespeare" GNs I bought this weekend. But what can I say? The guys are hot. (Glasses!Paris! *swoon)
