So it's been a long time since I posted. I'm not going to count exactly how long right now since that will just make me depressed, but I know it's been over a month. I kept having these things I wanted to talk about, and there kept being more building up and then I just... didn't. You know how it is, I think. :( Haven't been commenting much either, though I've been a little better about that. So yes, I am not dead. I do not think anyone was worried that I was but you never know.

What I have been doing during this time is being in California for eight days, the Berkshires for six and Florida for five (not all of these were at once). Just got back from the last today. It was a lot of fun except for when I got sick a few days ago. I am still sick now, so, that is not great. But I had a lot of fun seeing my extended family and everything. Just hope I didn't give them my cold.

Haven't been doing much else apart from that. Playing Sims 3, mostly. I have a decent legacy going and everything. I may picspam you guys with it later. :B I did not get the latest job I applied for, surprising no one, and I think it is too late to learn to drive, so my chances of accomplishing anything this summer are pretty well down there. I did, however, have an idea for what I can do next summer, jobwise, that I thought was a pretty good one: I can learn stenography. I bet I would be pretty good at picking it up, and if I can do that and bring up my typing speed 5 more wpm or so, I might be able to break into the closed-captioning field. And if I get good enough at that, I might be able to eventually get a job subbing things. :D Fansubbing would also be a good place to start with that one. But, um, let's give my Japanese another couple years, shall we.

More miscellany:
- Saw the perfect production of As You Like It over at Shakespeare and Company, and a few days later, entirely by chance, wound up with front-row seats to the opening night of the Williamstown Theater Festival's production of She Stoops To Conquer. I had not read the latter, but it was very funny and had a great cast. I suspect it would come across as pretty dry if you just read the play, so if you can, you should see a good production of it like that one. :D
- Some bitterness toward the recent Homestuck updates, but this post is long enough as is so I guess I'll discuss that later.
- Click for the rest, as this got long. You should read them as there are recs and cool things and stuff! )

Maybe if I take the Digimon meme a couple answers at a time I can finish in the next three weeks. At least these two are fun ones. :D

Day 17: Best dressed character. )

Day 18: Worst dressed character. )

Oh my god those got rambly. I'm so sorry.

Now, since I've been somehow inspired again, I'm off to try and write some of that ridiculous Ladd/Claire I've had banging around in my head for a couple months. Wish me luck~
vethica: (Default)
Whoa, sorry about not updating for the past few days. On Sunday I had to catch up on all my homework that I didn't do while doing the play, and then yesterday I went home for the first night of Passover. Apparently my school has actual good Passover food, so I may starve less than usual! This is exciting. :D

The second performance went okay. We had a tougher audience and some more lines got messed up, but it was still pretty good. I just wish more people had come. :( There was, however, more concrete talk of doing this again next year, which would be so awesome. We're discussing doing As You Like It or maybe Shrew, but I'm still holding out hope for Twelfth Night. >_>

DAY 06: A song that reminds you of a best friend. )

DAY 07: A song that reminds you of the past summer. )

DAY 08: A song that reminds you of your "first love." )

And also it is getting to be about that time, so I figured I should ask you guys. Anyone else going to Anime Boston? :D
vethica: (Default)
I was going to post this before midnight but oh well.

The play went so awesome. Okay, so I entered too early one time and some stuff took too long and some lines got messed up (including the last line :P) but who cares? No one noticed. The cast was amazing and people laughed at the appropriate times and apparently one person told us they never realized R&J has so many jokes in it before, which is, y'know, a serious compliment. Anyway, the point is I had so much fun and I cannot wait to do it again tomorrow now that we actually know what we are doing. And it seems like we even have a reasonable chance of doing another play next year. ^___^

DAY 05: A song that is often stuck in your head. )
vethica: (Default)
Got back a while ago from our final rehearsal. We perform tomorrow. Maybe it's because we're an amateur troupe and expected to mess up a bit, but I'm more excited than nervous. We didn't even have full costumes and props a couple days ago, and today everyone looked great and acted great and aaaagh I don't know, it was pretty perfect. Anyway, the point is I think we should be proud of ourselves. :B

I really should be in bed by now but I thought I ought to post the next day of the song meme.

DAY 04: A song that calms you down. )
vethica: (Default)
Thanks for your replies yesterday, guys. They really did make me feel better. I'm going to try not to care so much about what other people think about this stuff. Haters gonna hate and all that. ^_^

Made a human!Fluttershy account earlier today: [livejournal.com profile] sharingkindness. I doubt I'm going to ever use it for anything - mostly just wanted to take the username before someone else did - but if I ever were going to be good at RPing a character, it would probably be her. :|a So who knows. I've still got a ways to go before I'm caught up on the series anyway. Maybe someday.

Also I know most of my lines for the play now, so that is a good thing. :B

DAY 02: A song that reminds you of your most recent ex-boyfriend/girlfriend.

...Never had one of those. :|a I don't suppose anyone will mind if I skip ahead to the next day?

DAY 03: A song that reminds you of one/both of your parents. )
vethica: (Default)
Wait what is this? I am finally done with these stupid essays that I've been working on for the past several days? :O Quick, let me post a meme before I get assigned anything else.

(stolen from [livejournal.com profile] quadruplify)
Give me a character and I will give you my:
  • OTP for them.
  • Runner-up pairing.
  • Honorable mention(s).
  • Crack pairing(s).
  • Ship everyone else seems to like, but I don't. (alternatively: ship I like that everyone else seems to hate)
Not much else going on in my life. I've been inundated with work pretty much, so sorry if I've been responding to y'all's posts less than usual. :( No point in a Pokémon update until I get to the Elite Four, which I may not for a few weeks yet. Most of my free time has to be channeled into Romeo and Juliet. (Which is this weekend, btw! I guess I should start getting nervous about it now.) Also hi to [livejournal.com profile] no_one_specific, you are a cool person who is cool. c:

Anyway, more exciting updates may come eventually. In the meantime, do the meme. :B
vethica: (Default)
Saw two awesome movies in the past few days. The first was Summer Wars, which was amazing and touching (I actually cried, which... doesn't happen often). Despite what people say, it really isn't all that similar to Our War Game, apart from the ideas of a rogue AI and impending missiles. It came off as more of a homage than anything. I'm actually planning to get the DVD (and I don't own many DVDs either), if only to see how the dub came out. In conclusion, watch this movie. :B

The second was Atlantis: The Lost Empire, which I've been meaning to watch for forever. It turned out to be another one of those that I should have seen back when it came out, because I found myself being very fond of it. The characters! ♥ I found I could ignore the plot holes, but I did come out thinking that it should have been longer for the sake of character development. If we got to see more of the characters' interactions and growing friendships, I think it would have been a lot more powerful. And Milo should have totally gotten with Audrey. (Also, yeah, huge crush on Milo. He's not the trope picture for Adorkable for nothing. A socially awkward linguist with the voice of Marty McFly, come on, that's not fair.)

Also this meme's been kicking around the flist.

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out. :)

My answers are here! )

FEEL FREE TO ASK FOR CLARIFICATION OR WHATEVER

Also! If any of you guys have an OC that you want icons of, [livejournal.com profile] djinni is doing an icon day again. The art's really cute and tipping is completely optional - and despite the fact that most people request animals, he draws humans just fine too. It closes tomorrow, so if you want to request, do it soon! :D
vethica: (Default)
First, the answers to last post's meme, just in case anyone was curious. I can see why no one got most of these. :P )

[livejournal.com profile] lisacharly, you don't get to say anything about me missing BNL songs. :P

Now, a Shakespeare meme! Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] ember_reignited.

Bold the ones you've seen stage productions of, italicize the ones you've seen movies of, underline the ones you've read or listened to, and add a star to any you've performed in, done readings of, or in which you've otherwise theatrically participated.

List, list, O, list! )

And after now, the traditional New Year's meme! Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] quadruplify.

Year in Review )

Also studying for finals what is that ¯\(°_o)/¯
vethica: (Default)
Hello to new friends [livejournal.com profile] atrypical, [livejournal.com profile] ember_reignited, [livejournal.com profile] graceful_vanity, [livejournal.com profile] katkatrahrahrah, [livejournal.com profile] meganubunny, and [livejournal.com profile] millimole! Make yourselves at home~

TO EVERYONE ELSE (and to you guys too in future), I am sorry for not posting on here/responding to memes/doing much except the occasional comment a lot lately. :( Part of it is that I have had way too much homework, but part of it is that I am just very terrible at sitting down and writing things. I am so sorry. x_x

I have not forgotten those memes, though. Even the ones from a while back. I will respond to them if it kills me and I will post here when I do. But... just please consider this an apology to everyone for not being a good internet friend. I am really sorry.

So now of course I will do a meme real quick. Flickr meme whee )

Now that that is done I will talk about my life briefly. Was back at home for break. It was fun. I got to see most of my friends for the first time since I left, read Sondheim's book (which was wonderful), and saw Deathly Hallows Part 1. Now I am back at school and it is less fun. D: Have to write something currently, putting it off, the usual. At least I will be home for break in a month.

Although! That Midsummer Night's Dream adaptation I was talking about a few months back? I finally finished it! :D :D :D I know some people or other expressed interest in seeing it when it was done, so once I make the edits I may post it here. All 27 pages of it. .___.;;
vethica: (Default)
Hey guise. I've had craploads of homework recently, which is why I haven't been updating for the past couple weeks. :( But now that it has let up a bit I am posting! yaaaay

Here are the latest books I've been reading. )

Halloween and troll transvestism. )

Also this weekend Yuki and I are going to New England Webcomics Weekend! (Hopefully, anyway.) Oh man look at that guest list. Andrew Hussie + Kate Beaton + Anthony Clark + Jeph Jacques + Jess Fink + ???? = !!!! If anyone else is going on Saturday I will be the one in the Gamzee shirt with the Grell glasses chain, so say hi! :D

(And you know that Shakespeare extra-credit project I was doing? The teacher just upgraded it to a regular credit project that will replace our final essay. :D :D :D Such a load off my mind I don't even. High school AU, awaaaaay~!)

</so boring>
vethica: (Default)
I know I haven't been posting in forever. I'm sorry. It's like I don't even know what to say anymore. I haven't been doing much fandom stuff at all (except reading Shakespeare :B), so the only thing I can really talk about is my life. And my life right now is college. So you get to hear about college.

cut for life and college )

Oh hey! Here is a meme I stole from [livejournal.com profile] amael_elen. I don't normally do this kind of meme but what the heck. Fill it out shite kudasai? (YEAH I AM ACING JAPANESE II)

YOU'RE ON MY FRIENDS LIST!:
I want to know 28 things about you. I don't care if we've never talked, never really clicked, or if we already know everything about each other. I really don't. You are obviously on my flist, so let me know with whom I'm friends!

vethica: (Default)
First: MY LIFE IS COMPLETE :D :D it looks so cute too ;_;

I remembered what I was going to say last time, which is: [livejournal.com profile] miaor and [livejournal.com profile] azianwolfdoll's Livejournal Give-Away Raffle! Just comment any time before the 25th, and you have the chance of getting a paid account for either 2 or 4 months. If you don't want one for yourself, sign up a friend. It's free. It's awesome. Spread the word.

I've been meaning to get to this meme for a bit:
Song poem meme )

I swear I'll get to the other meme I was tagged for later D:

Also, does anyone know a good image hosting service that doesn't require you to give them personal information? Because if you do, let me know. :\
vethica: (Default)
yay.

(stoled from HG)
Summarize ten of your fandoms in one sentence. See who on your friends list can guess them. (some are really obvious lolz)

9. So much canon gay, and yet people still slash it. [livejournal.com profile] hoyvinglavin64
10. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALT!!!

Vacation detailses to follow.

Spoilers for about page 2 of DH, but some people are sensitive... )

Also, finally got around to watching "Goths" two days ago. Grishnack is love, and that is all. Although one wonders why he's named himself after an orc (Grishnákh) - they're not particularly goth, are they? (Further research has shown that he may have taken the name from one "Count Grishnackh", a musician, murderer and racist. I hope it's the former.)

Also, today is yesterday was (the historical) Macbeth's 950th deathday. Keep it real, Mac.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go watch The Office. I mean, eat dinner. Then watch The Office. ("Well, have a nap...THEN fire ze missiles!")
vethica: (Default)
yay.

Camp was fun and I miss it. So many cool people. So many cool stuff. ;_;

The meme questions! [SPOILERS FOR LOST] )

boring artpads )

Also, if anyone had any doubts of how much of a freak I am, I have cast the main characters of The Office to the song "Piano Man". Yyyep.
(Piano Man = Jim; old man = David Brent; John = Tim; Paul = Dawn; Davy = Gareth; waitress = Pam; businessman = Michael; manager = Dwight.)
vethica: (raven)
Twelfth Night is one of the few fandoms I'm truly a panshipper for. Toby/Andrew, Andrew/Olivia, Andrew/Viola, Olivia/Viola, Viola/Sebastian, Sebastian/Antonio...et cetera. I'd even read Orsino/Viola (canon pairing, omg) if it were Cesario!Viola >:) if it were done well. Of course, nobody writes Twelfth Night fanfic anyway, so I don't need to be worried about that.

Also, speaking of pairings...

Comment with the name/title of a fandom I'm aware of, no matter how obvious you think the answers will be, and I'll reply to you with the relationships (canon or not) from it I ship. Also, you're free to reply in subthreads and ask me why I ship or don't ship something. stolen from rinacat (who has excellent Kim/Shego, check her out!) from forever ago
(Please feel free to ask more than one fandom, I'm bored here.)

The Merchant of Venice needed more Mackenzie. I know that they had to make some reductions for the sake of plot, but his part was significantly larger in the original play. But what there was was adorable, so I'm not complaining too much. Launcelot had a total thing for Jessica and that was so cute. *wibble* AND he is the only person in the world who can make the weasel mustache hot. Srsly you guys.

Rest of the movie: I have it on good authority that [livejournal.com profile] bsergurl was quite pleased with Joseph Fiennes's performance as Bassanio. Personally, I think he looked his best in this movie (i.e., with long hair). I mean, he was even sporting a couple Padawan-braid-type braids at one point. That's good stuff. Jeremy Irons is always awesome, and was only slightly less so because I kept picturing him in Eragon. Curse you, Paolini. Also, Antonio is totally gay for Bassanio, and for once this isn't just my slashaholism talking; many very smart people agree. Score. And Bassanio is pretty gay back. I mean, they even kiss on the mouth at one point. ON THE MOUTH, PEOPLE. (The director and Mr. Irons disagree with this view, you say? What do they know?) And, of course, Al Pacino as Shylock did the villain/victim angle very well. You have to feel sorry for the guy. As for the girls, Portia really likes to mess with people, and Nerissa throwing stuff at Gratiano? WIN.

So I'm gunna try to watch this movie again before it goes back to the library. And I don't usually want to watch movies again, so that gives you an idea of how good it is.

The Wayside School animated series, on the other hand, could have been done a lot better.
vethica: (Default)
Recap of the past two weeks: saw At Worlds End, got out of school, developed a huge crush on Mackenzie Crook. (Not in that order.) The last one is the one you need to know about for this entry.

A rant which is very whiny but which I think is fairly justified; read at your own peril )

On the plus side of this obsession, [livejournal.com profile] bsergurl and I found a movie that stars both our interests. Hers is Joseph Fiennes (Ralph's brother), and the movie is The Merchant of Venice (2004 version). We even found a picture that has both of them in it. (MACKENZIE HAS A WEASEL MUSTACHE AND HE MAKES IT LOOK HOT :D) So anyway we're gonna watch it today, although we probably won't be able to hear it for our squeeing. Yeah.
vethica: (Default)
Since I haven't posted since last Wednesday: quick thoughts on Idol and LOST )

---

Dear Guidance Counselor Type Person:

So I should go out of my way to force friendships with people whom I have nothing in common with, do not care about, and am sure do not want to be friends with me, because if I don't, "I'm missing out"?

...Uh-huh. Not seeing your logic here.

---

On an unrelated note, O.A. and I have discovered the awesomeness that is Shakespeare slash. Hamlet/Horatio, Hamlet/Laertes, Romeo/Mercutio, Romeo/Benvolio, Romeo/Mercutio/Benvolio...so wrong and yet so darn right. (Also, Juliet/Tybalt. Not slash, but it is cousincest. :D) Most of the blame goes to the "Manga Shakespeare" GNs I bought this weekend. But what can I say? The guys are hot. (Glasses!Paris! *swoon)

---

And Sentence Game trolls should probably die or leave or something.
vethica: (Default)
  • Messed with Photoshop

  • Did stuff with friends ^_^

  • Beat that part in my Yu-Gi-Oh! game I've been working on for months

  • Went to HG's party (and watched the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time)

  • Went to the library

  • Watched a bunch more of Digimon 01 subbed

  • Am going to see A Midsummer Night's Dream this afternoon

I'm fairly satisfied.

The Revenge of the Sith novelization is so Ani/Obi subtexty. "Obi-Wan opened his eyes to find himself staring at what he strongly suspected was Anakin's butt." ^_^ Also, I've been rereading Ah! My Goddess, and I only just got the "K1" thing. K-"ichi". I'm so unobservant. :P
