Saw two awesome movies in the past few days. The first was Summer Wars, which was amazing and touching (I actually cried, which... doesn't happen often). Despite what people say, it really isn't all that similar to Our War Game, apart from the ideas of a rogue AI and impending missiles. It came off as more of a homage than anything. I'm actually planning to get the DVD (and I don't own many DVDs either), if only to see how the dub came out. In conclusion, watch this movie. :B
The second was Atlantis: The Lost Empire, which I've been meaning to watch for forever. It turned out to be another one of those that I should have seen back when it came out, because I found myself being very fond of it. The characters! ♥ I found I could ignore the plot holes, but I did come out thinking that it should have been longer for the sake of character development. If we got to see more of the characters' interactions and growing friendships, I think it would have been a lot more powerful. And Milo should have totally gotten with Audrey. (Also, yeah, huge crush on Milo. He's not the trope picture for Adorkable for nothing. A socially awkward linguist with the voice of Marty McFly, come on, that's not fair.)
Also this meme's been kicking around the flist.
You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out. :)

Also! If any of you guys have an OC that you want icons of,
djinni is doing an icon day again. The art's really cute and tipping is completely optional - and despite the fact that most people request animals, he draws humans just fine too. It closes tomorrow, so if you want to request, do it soon! :D

Game time started!
Oct. 3rd, 2007 05:10 pmHave you ever been dissatisfied with only the Backstroke of the West screenshots that are shown on the original website? Would you like to watch the whole thing? Well, here it is! The entire movie in one handy YouTube format. Set aside a few hours and prepare to die. Laughing, that is. (WARNING: occasional language and really, really bad Engrish.)
And if by some chance someone has not read the original BotW: here. There is no excuse.
EDIT: OH OH AND
DM of the Rings, a very excellent and funny comic about LotR as a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. If you like either of those, read it. And don't forget to read the comments - the Monty Python strip in particular leads some hilariosly geeky ones.
(Man, this thing makes me want to play some D&D. The only real game of it I've played was less than an hour long. Do any of you guys play? D: )

Dear Self,
Eleven o'clock PM is a BAD TIME to get to sleep. Especially if you have to wake up at six-thirty in the morning.
Beat this into your brain until you get it.
No love,
Me
Also, Person in my English Class? I know "soliloquies" is a difficult word to pronounce. However, "so-lie-lo-wockies" may have been the single worst pronunciation I have ever heard.
( And now I'm going to recommend some videos. )

I would like to apologize for not posting the birthdays of, among others, David Wenham (41 on September 21st), Tom Felton (19 on September 22nd), and Mark Hamill (55 on September 25th). I've been getting around to posting this for a while, so...yeah.

I don't know if Haku has a girl's voice in the original Naruto, but he certainly does in the dub. Add that to the long hair, painted nails and the pants that are so flouncy they're almost a skirt, and it's a wonder anyone even considers that he's a guy. Even more so that he actually is one. Well, actually I guess he's a Haku, but you know. "Haku" being an arbitrary gender and all.
Also, Inari's voice is too old for him. Other than that, I'm cool with the dub so far.
So I read this book about Lost that I got from the library (well, as much as I could without spoilering - I'm only up to episode 12), and a caption for one picture (from the peanut butter scene) reads "Charlie, a failure with women, seeks redemption in his love for the pregnant, vulnerable Claire." Okay, never mind the fact that he's a (semi)famous rock star and so would probably have women lined up outside his door, I can't see a guy who looks like that being any sort of a failure. But I'm probably biased. And they might be put off by the whole drug addict thing. And I haven't seen too much of the show, so maybe he is a failure. I don't know. But then again, the book also calls Liam "Ian", so...
And, speaking of Lost, I found this community
lost_challenge. I'm not going to friend them yet because they're farther along in the show than I am, so I'm just putting this here to remind myself. Oh, and while I'm at it, another link for my own benefit. You can just ignore it.
EDIT: I messed up the link :P

So I'll put it here: "Hello, my name is Izzy and I'm very smart, although I didn't know how to stop me and my friends from being turned into keychains!"
Last night I had the slashiest dream. Aragorn/Boromir: mmm.
The night before last I didn't get to sleep until after 2:00 AM (I think I had too much caffeine before bed). So when I was lying awake really bored-like, I thought of this summary for Grease:
Like I said, I was really bored. :P I've often wanted to see Danny Fenton playing Danny Zucco. I wonder who his Sandy would be? ;)

Over the summer, two high-schoolers, Sandy and Danny, meet and fall in love. When they go back to school, Sandy, an inherently good girl, becomes fed up with Danny's denying their relatonship to further his bad-boy reputation. Or something like that. But really, with a soundtrack like this, who cares about the plot? There are so many catchy musical numbers that you hopefully won't even notice the incredible immorality of the moral at the end. So watch Grease - or better yet, just buy the soundtrack.

Apr. 23rd, 2006 06:47 pmTwo conclusions I have come to after re-watching the EEs:
1. You know how for us the gene for blond hair is recessive? For Rohirrim, it must be dominant.
2. Legolas is a mindless killing machine! (Well, the "mindless" part we knew already. Ha! I kid the Orly fans! Well, Legolas, Orly...same thing.) He just goes around shooting people. I mean, first Gríma, then PJ? HE'S A MANIAC! HE MUST BE STOPPED...okay, I'm done.
Oh, and Andy Serkis's birthday was on Thursday, he turned 42, go him and all that.

He was the ring bearer! Ahahahahahah! (And wishing he could strangle Rosie with a pair of pants so he could be the one marrying Sam, but that's not the point.)
Yeah, that's what I forgot to say last post. But while I'm here, there are a couple more things I want to say. First: birthdays! Today is actually two people's birthdays (well, actually, probably more, but two people that I care about). Dar Williams (who I got to see in concert the other day!) turns 39, and Hayden Christensen (Anakin in episodes II and III) turns 25. Happy birthday them.
Also, I'd like to remind SOME PEOPLE *glowers* that my real name is off-limits on this LJ. Got it, you two?
Finally - I'm going to see Wicked tonight! W00t! When I'm done, O.A. and I can compare shows. So get your notes ready, O.A.
(Oh, and those rumors about me and Gríma? Still false.)
