(no subject)

They don't tell you how hard it is to get back into posting on Livejournal after month-long hiatuses (hiatūs?). They should, but they don't. And the fact that I have things like Tumblr, Gaia, Lang-8, Sims, and, of course, schoolwork to take my mind away from it doesn't help matters.

If it makes you feel any better, my life hasn't been all that interesting. I've been in school, studying basically the same things I was studying last year. I'm now a linguistics minor in addition to a Japanese major, so there's that. Also, there is the fact that I will be studying abroad in Japan next year. Which, ngl, is pretty awesome. :D

I haven't really gotten into any new fandoms either. Except ASoIaF/Game of Thrones and Gankutsuou, which both happened this summer... yeesh, it's been that long. (e: OH WAIT I FORGOT LYCHEE LIGHT CLUB wow I suck. Yeah, Lychee Light Club too. Also that reminds me to say hello to my new f!s friending meme friends [livejournal.com profile] astrokittie and [livejournal.com profile] tasogare_n_hime. Hi! c:) I haven't left any of my old fandoms either, and I just got bit bad by the Baccano! bug so if I start posting regularly on here again it will probably involve a lot of squeeing about that show. Just like old times. :D

Which I suppose is as good a segue as any. I'd originally planned to make a post a couple weeks ago to tell y'all to go vote in [livejournal.com profile] animetournament, but then I never did and by now we're down to the top 12 and my boy Jacuzzi got knocked out of the running so it's a bit late to make any exhortations to that effect. You can still vote though if you want to. :B No, the main reason for my post right now is this: who all is going to Anime Boston? Because I know some of you live around here or at least make it here for cons, and let's face it, we need to meet up. The really cool thing is I'll be cohosting a panel this year ("How Is This Con Different From All Other Cons? An Otaku Passover"), so if you want to stop by and say hi, I will be the one up there who doesn't have facial hair. Or if you just see me around the con, I'll probably be cosplaying Graham Specter all three days, and if you don't know who that is, look for the giant wrench. :B

So there is that, and also, I guess, what is going on in your lives even if you are not going to AB. I HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW TO END LJ POSTS

Omg I just got into GoT myself. It's so... Entertaining. I wouldn't necessarily say it's good but oh god it's so much fun to watch. So. Much. Fun. I plowed through most of the first season in the past few days and I'm gonna finish it/catch up to where S2 is tonight once I finish off some work.

AND YAY BACCANNO! And Litchi/Lychee. It's my precious baby. ;A; And Gankutsuou, which I really, really want to rewatch. For a while I used to read the novel every summer, but it'd probably save me time to just watch Gankutsuou. :U

It really is hard to get back into posting. I just can't bring myself to care.

Oh man, I know. I love it. @_@ Personally I think it is good, but I am not known for having the best taste. Or maybe it is because I read the book first? Idk idk. Anyway I am guessing you already have caught up since it is tomorrow, but if you have not, I think you will like the first episode of S2. I mean. I did. :B

Aaaaahhhhhhhh you like the baccanoes too? You just have the best taste in everything dude. *_* Perhaps you can help me with my squeeing as I rewatch. Also yesss LLC/LHC (I know the fandom generally calls it by the latter but I was introduced to it with the English name and that is how I think of it I am sorry u_u;;). Thank you for alerting me to the fact that there is an active fandom for that, because it's awesome. I need to fanart it or something one of these days. Also I fully endorse the watching of Gankutsuou over reading the novel. Not that I have read the novel, but I am almost positive that Gankutsuou is a lot gayer.

Man I know. :( It seems like pretty much everyone has packed up for Dreamwidth or gotten eaten by Tumblr. The only reason I'm really staying around is for f!s and my friends' LJs. Hopefully if I start posting again it will help fix that.

I have really bad taste. I just enjoy things for being awful most of the time! I actually keep getting sidetracked so I haven't seen the most recent ep, but the first episode of S2 was pretty awesome and ahh. I was going to watch the most recent episode tonight, but then I decided it was too late. But I'll probably cave in and watch it anyway.

I loves the baccanoes! I wish they'd give it another season of shenanigans (or an Isaac and Miria spinoff OVA? CAN IT HAPPEN!). My best friend cosplayed Graham and she's always tried to get me to be/I've always wanted to be Claire. Someday...
It's cool about LHC/LLC! I think it's kind of funny that they translated it because it's written in plain English in the Japanese version that it's "Litchi Hikari Club", but I think having a totally translated name helps sales? I really don't care though, Vertical did a great job on it. I wish there was more of a fandom that I could stand. I swear I want to punch half of the fans I come by. And the fandom's not really active, except maybe on Tumblr. And I think it's mostly me poking fun at it and being generally obnoxious. Have you read it's sequel/prequel?
... Oh lordy no, Gankutsuou is probably less gay than the novel. I first read it when I was 12... ish and I wasn't even a dirty awful rotten old fujoshi at that point and I was like "... dang. This is gay." It's a really wonderful book, I'd recommend it! Just make sure you don't end up with the abridged version.

It makes no sense to me since... Nobody on DW really posts that much? And Tumblr's so impersonal so I'm losing on both fronts. I stick on LJ for the icon contests, because I'm a laber.

[identity profile] kazekageshad.livejournal.com 2012-04-05 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
What train are you taking? I'm going in later because of classes.

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2012-04-05 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh right, those things. I'm going on the one with club at 8.

I'll see you there then :D Do you have my cellphone number?

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2012-04-05 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
If you haven't changed it in the past few years, yes.

[identity profile] kazekageshad.livejournal.com 2012-04-05 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok cool you do have it then. I need to put money on it tonight....^^;;

Not much has been going on in my life either (although I'm partly saying this because I'm too lazy to go into everything I already wrote in my LJ :P), so I wouldn't feel too bad about it. I've taken a hiatus from Tumblr, though; it was seriously eating up my life and wasn't as fun as it used to be, so I needed to step away from it for a bit. And I've been meaning to get into GoT for the longest time now, but I keep on forgetting/being lazy about it. Ugh. >_>

Studying linguistics sounds interesting, and congrats on studying abroad in Japan next year! :D

BTW, are you still up for Dominion sometime?

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2012-04-04 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay, man. I have been reading your posts; I just... don't comment... because I am bad at commenting. :( I totally understand the Tumblr hiatus. I'm just trying to reblog a couple things at a time these days so it does not eat my entire life like it did this summer. Also re GoT, I will not try to push it on you, but you should totally watch it. :P Or you could read the book, if that would be better for you since you do not have to carve out an hour of your day for it. Whichever man.

Linguistics is really cool yes. :O Languages have like a million parts and I love seeing how they fit together, it is so cool. And thank you! :D I will try to make posts next year about my life there and maybe I will even write them in English.

Dude, I am always up for Dominion. Always. There are very few things that could make me not be up for Dominion. Just IM me whenever you want a game. :D

[identity profile] fujicori.livejournal.com 2012-04-04 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I was almost a linguistics minor myself, but I'd have to take all the courses for it at other schools. I think I made it 3/4 of the way to minor before deciding against it, oops. Congrats; linguistics is really shiny! And on study abroad as well; that sounds fabulous.

As usual, was planning on going to AB until stuff came up - I'd have to go up on Saturday (including waiting in LineCon 2012 because their preregistration site didn't work for me) and come back Sunday, and that is just Not Worth It. Maybe one of these years. @__@

(Should probably also post sometime, but... LJ doesn't always work right on school computers. DW does, so it is so much more inviting.)

[identity profile] homunkulas.livejournal.com 2012-04-05 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
And now I wonder how come I never knew that you're studying the same thing that I'm planning to o_O From what I gather you're a Japanese and Linguistics student, right? I'm not quite sure how it works in the US though, with these minor/major things x)
So since I'm thinking of studying the Japanese language and as ever I'm full of doubts maybe you could enlighten me on how wonderful or not your studies are? My aim is to study in the UK but still your opinion of the subject would be a great help *o*

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2012-04-20 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ughh wow, I am sorry for not responding to this comment for a million weeks. I hope you get notifications. :(

Yeah, I'm a Japanese and linguistics student, but since Japanese is my major it means I have to take more courses for it. And if it helps, I'm not sure how it works over there either. :P

Personally, I've really enjoyed my Japanese studies, or else I wouldn't have stayed on for 3+ years. :P I love language learning in general, but Japanese has been really good to me. The kanji are the hardest part, but if you take some time and learn your radicals you'll be okay. I think you should totally go for it, man. :D (But I may be biased.)
