I know I haven't been posting in forever. I'm sorry. It's like I don't even know what to say anymore. I haven't been doing much fandom stuff at all (except reading Shakespeare :B), so the only thing I can really talk about is my life. And my life right now is college. So you get to hear about college.

College is... okay. It is hard being away from home and I miss people pretty badly. I have made two friends, one of whom is my roommate, although there are some people I'm also getting better acquainted with, but who knows.

I am taking Japanese II, which I though I would be pretty okay at, and I've got a decent grasp on reading and writing. But I've gotten myself into this loop where I completely freak out when it comes to speaking. Which means I looked like an idiot during my oral presentation today. I couldn't even answer the simple questions people asked at the end. And then I broke down, of course. I don't know what I'm going to do if it turns out I'm bad at Japanese. This is honestly the only thing I'm good at. On the bright side, now I get what Kurt Cobain meant when he sang "I'm worst at what I do best." So... there's that. :\

My other classes are less depression-inducing. My favorite is the one about adaptations of Shakespeare for children. I love Shakespeare and I love things I'm way too old for, so this is basically the perfect class for me. :D During our last class we watched parts of a couple movie versions of Midsummer. My notes from that consist of a half-finished drawing of Helena and the words "DEMETRIUS IS A CLOSETED HOMOSEXUAL". Come on, he totally is. Also as an extra-credit project, we get to make our own Shakespeare adaptations. I am doing a Midsummer high school AU, and I'm actually really inspired. So this has gotten me writing. Like, consistently. Which is very rare and kind of cool for me. :)

Oh, also I read the next four books of Scott Pilgrim. They are very different from the movie. Very different. I really don't know which one I like better. The books have more fleshed-out characters and super adorable art style, but the movie has a more concise plot and a Scott who is not a total jerk. So I am maybe leaning toward the movie there. Still love the art style though. 5/6 BOOKS COMPLETED

Oh hey! Here is a meme I stole from [livejournal.com profile] amael_elen. I don't normally do this kind of meme but what the heck. Fill it out shite kudasai? (YEAH I AM ACING JAPANESE II)

YOU'RE ON MY FRIENDS LIST!:
I want to know 28 things about you. I don't care if we've never talked, never really clicked, or if we already know everything about each other. I really don't. You are obviously on my flist, so let me know with whom I'm friends!

Wow, it's really nice that you landed yourself with a roommate you can get along with! :D I hear incompatible roommates can be a big issue sometimes so yeahh.

Don't worry, I think speaking's the hardest part of any language! But you'll always have some things that absolutely kill you no matter how much you like a subject. Like, I love art but observational drawing is one of my most hated things ever, even though it's basically like an essential skill and whatnot. Maybe you can go to your teacher for help on speaking if they have office hours? You have a lot of time to refine your skills, that's pretty much what college is for! :>

As for survey... I'll shrink it to save space since I've rambled enough already orz;;;

01. Your middle name, or explain your chosen name:
My middle name's Alice, though Min means something like 'clever' or whatever in Korean, according to my mother.

02. Mental age:
I still feel like I'm fourteen sometimes.

03. Single or taken:
Single

04. Favorite book:
Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mitch Albom.

05. Favorite song or album:
"Life", by Kimaguren.

06. What do you believe is your calling in life? Your greatest passion?
I'd love to do something in the art field, but I haven't decided exactly what yet. But noncareerwise, I've always wanted to start a webcomic... once I get good enough. orz

07. What's your worst recurring nightmare/biggest fear?
Being tortured / slow, painful death. I'm just really afraid of physical pain in general. :|

08. Faith, has you any? And if so, what, and if not, why not?:
No real religion or anything, and I don't believe in a higher power. Though I do believe that all living things have a soul and spirit, just that neither can exist without a body or without each other. So I don't believe in afterlife, either.

09. Do we know each other outside of LJ? Do we want to?
Well, we've met outside of LJ! I'd love to see you again sometime, though. Maybe if you're going to Anime Boston next year?

The world may not be kind, but it sure is pretty.

11. Is the bottle half-full or half-empty?
Depends on the day.

12. Would you tell me something painful if it was in my best interest?
Probably? Dunno, it depends on the situation.

Camp in general. ;u; I loved how we met at the poetry reading thing, watching you guys Hare Hare Yukai it up, our computer lab trips... idk, everything was just too fun.

14. What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
FOOD. ALL OF THEM. No, I eat way too much junk for my own good and I know it's gonna come back to get me when I'm older.

15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you:
I didn't talk until I was five years old!

16. You can have three wishes what are they?
To be able to find what career would make me truly happy, and to find and excel at an art style that I love. The third wish, however cheesy it might sound, can go to someone who needs it.

17. What is your favorite food?
French fries.

18. Which country is your spiritual home?
Where I live right now. Though, I'd love to go to Italy to see if that may be it, since sometimes I feel as if I'm Italian at heart.

Seeing gore/guts/violence in real life and live action movies.

20. Do you think I'm a good person?
Yes. &hearts

21. What was your best/favorite subject at school?
Art. But for an academic subject, probably history.

22. Describe your accent:
Typical northeastern American? Besides talking fairly fast, I don't have any distinct accent.

23. If you could change anything about me, would you?
Nahh.

24. What do you wear to sleep?
Underwear, tee shirt, shorts. No matter what the season.

25. Gender identity?
Female

26. Affectionate/sexual orientation?
Bicurious

27. If I only had one day to live, what would we do together? (If you have no idea, just say something crazy, it'll entertain me!)
It'd of course be your choice, but it'd be crazy fun to be able to go to some anime convention with you.

28. Will you repost this so I can fill it out for you?
Probably not in my journal, but you can fill it out in a reply to this!! I'd love to see your answers! o/

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she's really cool. She is a nerd too and likes Korean music. And she puts up with me staying up till all hours. It's great. :D

I know, man. I have to work on the hard stuff. It's just... well, hard. :\ I did talk to one of my professors today, though, and I'm going to try to work on it outside of class. So.

09. Do we know each other outside of LJ? Do we want to?
Well, we've met outside of LJ! I'd love to see you again sometime, though. Maybe if you're going to Anime Boston next year?

Heck yes I am going to Anime Boston. Are you going? Because that will be incredibly awesome. :D :D

10. What's your philosophy on life?
The world may not be kind, but it sure is pretty.

I like this. It's all realistic. :|a

13. What is your favorite memory of us?

15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you:
I didn't talk until I was five years old!

That is weird and kind of cool. Why not?

28. Will you repost this so I can fill it out for you?
Probably not in my journal, but you can fill it out in a reply to this!! I'd love to see your answers! o/

I'll repost my answers to the first one in a new reply. Changing the you-specific ones, of course. :B

DKSFJSDKF SORRY THIS IS SO LATE!! Also, too lazy to log out of rping account again

[identity profile] middayitaly.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
09. I REALLY HOPE SO!! I'm definitely going to visit Boston for the week of spring break to go college visiting. I'm not sure if I'll have enough money saved up to afford AB, but if I can't go, we should still meet up sometime during my stay there! +___+

10. Thanks! My primary life philosophy is actually "All is one, one is all," but I feel a little silly having my life wisdom decided by a manga series. Even... if it's a really damn good one.

15. I dunno, actually. My parents were actually worried that something was wrong with me and took me to the doctor for a hearing test and stuff like that, but they found nothing wrong with me. I'm guessing I was just like, too lazy to talk or something, LOL. Though, I can't remember any of this since I don't recall any memories of before I started talking.

my response is later ffff *bad friend*

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2010-09-29 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
09. You are? *___* Dude yesss. See if you can maybe go for at least one day or something because there is no way we are going to miss this opportunity to meet up. :D (Also, what colleges?)

10. Dude there is nothing wrong with being inspired by manga series. Some of them are absolutely excellent.

15. Being lazy is probably the best reason for not talking ever.

S'FINE!! we can just have a BAD ROMANCE together o9

[identity profile] min19.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
09. Yes!! HOPEFULLY. I know I'm going to Boston for college visiting. The only thing that could impede on attending Anime Boston is that me and two of my friends are gonna go to Otakon next year, so I need to see if I'll have enough money for both. But dkafjdksf I WANT TO GO SO BADLY, TO SEE YOU AND THE AWESOME THAT IS AB AND AHHH IT'D BE SO MUCH FUN!! I've actually started buying things to put together a Jade cosplay, as well as John from this page! I'm really excited.

10. Yeah, you're right. FMA is just one boss of a manga series, after all.

i'm 0k with this ♠♠♠

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
In my terribly humble opinion, Anime Boston is more fun than Otakon. But then I have only been to the latter once so what do I know. Also oh my god you are going to be awesome new outfit!John? Soooo coool! :D :D :D What's your verdict: scarf, cape, or hood?

i want your ♠ BLACK ROMANCE ♠

[identity profile] min19.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, any advice is awesome, though!! Especially since you've been to both! Me and my friends decided to go to Otakon because the costs for all of us would be cheaper, but I'm going to Boston anyways so I'm gonna try to save up the money to go to both.

I'M GOING TO TRY MY BEST!! o9 I'm planning to replicate the headphones too, though obviously not doing the holographic computer stuff, lol. And I hear that it's actually a cape with a hood. Might have to go with cape for the actual costume though, since... I have no idea how to sew up a hood like that.

Re: i want your ♠ BLACK ROMANCE ♠

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ohh okay. I have just found that there is more stuff to do at AB. But do whatever is best for you man! I would lend you some money but I am a poor college student ;_;

I have seen it a couple different ways but yeah, I like the cape hood idea. And I love that picture ffff. But I am sure however you do it will be awesome~!

[identity profile] min19.livejournal.com 2010-10-01 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry 'bout it!! I'm gonna try to get a job at Joann's Fabric Store soon! Maybe I'll even get employee discount on the fabrics for when I make the costumes, ahah. I have no idea.

Yeah, I'm actually taking a slight homework detour to google methods of making hoods, and I think I'll try it. It'll probably turn out horrendous b-but IT'S THE EFFORT THAT COUNTS, RIGHT? ;;;

My answers!

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2010-09-17 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
01. Your middle name, or explain your chosen name:
I will not say my middle name since I am paranoid, but it's named after my late grandmother's middle name.

02. Mental age:
Probably about 12 or so, if my sense of humor is anything to go by.

03. Single or taken:
Taken. \o/

04. Favorite book:
It is so hard for me to pick favorites, which means I really don't have a favorite book. Although if we are going by number of rereads Sabriel by Garth Nix probably wins this one.

05. Favorite song or album:
Again, difficult. I think picking one favorite song is actually impossible for me, but for an album I will go with Belle and Sebastian's "If You're Feeling Sinister". For now, anyway.

06. What do you believe is your calling in life? Your greatest passion?
I... don't really have one. The only thing I have any aptitude for is languages, and I'm not even that good at those.

07. What's your worst recurring nightmare/biggest fear?
My only recurring nightmare has been the one where I'm in a car and suddenly no one is driving. You know the one. My biggest fear is probably that people I care about will die suddenly. x_x I also have terrible internet paranoia.

08. Faith, has you any? And if so, what, and if not, why not?:
I'm Jewish, and fairly religious.

09. Do we know each other outside of LJ? Do we want to?
We haven't seen each other for a while, but we do! :D

10. What's your philosophy on life?
"As soon as you're born you start dying, so you might as well have a good time." - Cake

11. Is the bottle half-full or half-empty?
Half-empty, I guess. Depends on what's in it.

12. Would you tell me something painful if it was in my best interest?
I might, but I would feel pretty bad about it.

13. What is your favorite memory of us?
The same thing you said. :| Caaaamp. I miss that.

14. What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Children's cartoon shows. Also Britney Spears.

15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you:
I can peel grapes with my teeth.
(there are literally no other interesting facts about me orz)

16. You can have three wishes what are they?
1) For the people I love to be happy
2) GHOST POWERS
3) Unlimited wishes (yeah I'm a cheater)

17. What is your favorite food?
I've gotta go with bread for this one. Not only is it a good time for me, it is also a good time for everybody. Plus it is really hard to make bad bread. I don't know, it seems kind of boring, but I like it. ._.;;

18. Which country is your spiritual home?
The USA, I guess? It's the only one I've ever been in for a substantial period of time.

19. What is your big weakness?
I have no willpower.

20. Do you think I'm a good person?
I do. Because you are. :|

21. What was your best/favorite subject at school?
Languages. I am also pretty good at math.

22. Describe your accent:
Fairly standard northern American accent, I guess. Possible traces of Bostonian in there.

23. If you could change anything about me, would you?
I would make you be able to go to Anime Boston :|

24. What do you wear to sleep?
Pajama shirt/dress and pajama pants. They are technically not a set but they work together.

25. Gender identity?
Female.

26. Affectionate/sexual orientation?
Mostly straight, by which I mean I'd probably totally date a girl if she were hot. >_> It might not work out romantically (I have not tested this), but yeah, I am attracted to girls sometimes. Just... more often to guys. :B

27. If I only had one day to live, what would we do together? (If you have no idea, just say something crazy, it'll entertain me!)
Totally an anime convention would be awesome. Or something else terribly nerdy. :D

28. Will you repost this so I can fill it out for you?
No :|

[identity profile] middayitaly.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
07. What's your worst recurring nightmare/biggest fear?
My only recurring nightmare has been the one where I'm in a car and suddenly no one is driving. You know the one. My biggest fear is probably that people I care about will die suddenly. x_x I also have terrible internet paranoia.

Ohhh, so that's what the question meant by recurring nightmare. BUT I'VE ACTUALLY HAD THAT SORT OF DREAM BEFORE. Usually, though, it's not such a big deal that no one's driving in my dreams.

14. What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Children's cartoon shows. Also Britney Spears.

Agreed on both counts. So much.

15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you:
I can peel grapes with my teeth.

WAIT SERIOUSLY?! THAT IS LEGITIMATELY SO COOL WHY DID YOU NEVER SHOW ME THIS AT CAMP SDJFKSDJF

17. What is your favorite food?
I've gotta go with bread for this one. Not only is it a good time for me, it is also a good time for everybody. Plus it is really hard to make bad bread. I don't know, it seems kind of boring, but I like it. ._.;;

Nah man I totally understand that. My mom has this weird breadmaker machine thing and the homemade bread that it makes is like, the BEST SHIT EVER. Dear Lord, idek, fresh bread is just amazing.

19. What is your big weakness?
I have no willpower.

DITTO. SO SO SO MUCH

23. If you could change anything about me, would you?
I would make you be able to go to Anime Boston :|

You have no idea how much I want to. ;____; IT'S LIKE, BEEN MY DREAM FOR THE PAST YEAR, MAN.

26. Mostly straight, by which I mean I'd probably totally date a girl if she were hot. >_> It might not work out romantically (I have not tested this), but yeah, I am attracted to girls sometimes. Just... more often to guys. :B
Pretty much exactly the same with me. Just that I haven't had a legitimate relationship with either gender yet, so I'm just going with 'bicurious' to make things easier for myself. Because, idk, who knows what could happen? o9
