Speaking of Disney movies (we were doing that, right?): I know I'm a loser who only saw about four* of them during her childhood proper, and it's really sad that it took me until yesterday to watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame. But dang, that is a good movie. I think it just elbowed its way right in there under The Lion King as one of my favorite Disney movies. I mean, the music alone is excellent, but then you add in the characters and the plot and everything, and, wow. Suffice it to say that it's becoming my latest short-term obsession. And I need to acquire the soundtrack. OF COURSE I DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU GUYS THIS STUFF THOUGH BECAUSE YOU ALL HAD NORMAL CHILDHOODS. 8D (Although I have no idea how this movie got away with a G rating. IMO some of the stuff it deals with really isn't for kids. Which, y'know, is part of why I like it. But anyway.)

* Three if you don't count The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh as an actual movie.

Also, since I may not get a chance to post something later, I'm leaving again tomorrow for vacation. I'll be back next Tuesday. And then school starts. =_=

P.S. Apparently in Japanese, the @ sign is known as "naruto". This should not be so funny.

What are these three?

Hunchback has to be one of the strangest Disney movies because it contains all that extremely sketchy material that kids wouldn't get yet they shoehorned in a kid-friendly happy ending which doesn't really work. I think if they cut it off right when the Hunchback is carrying Esmarelda's body up the church and released it with a PG under Miramax it would be a masterpiece but as it is it's still pretty good.

Dumbo, The Jungle Book, and The Lion King. And I didn't even see TLK for a good chunk of my childhood. Also, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, but that's mostly live-action so I wasn't sure whether or not to include it.

Aww, but then we wouldn't get to see Frollo's cool death scene! No, I mainly agree, though. I like happy endings as much as the next guy, but in a movie this dark it seemed sorta off. And if they were going to have one, they could have at least let Quasi get the girl. I mean, really. (Or there coulda been a threesome, I'm not picky.) Also, the comic-relief gargoyles. What was up with those? They weren't even that funny.

No Lilo and Stitch? No Mulan? No Beauty and the Beast? No Fantasia?

When I saw this movie the first time, my immediate thought at the ending was that you were either going to ship a threesome or decide to ship Esmarelda/Goat. XD

I read somewhere that the directors' original idea was that Quasi's one friend was going to be Notre Dame itself which would come to life in hallucinogenic visions. That would have been awesome, but the stupid execs didn't get it and replaced that idea with the gargoyles, who would have been tolerable had they simply been similar hallucinations, but when they went into the battle...

I did see Lilo and Stitch, I forgot about that. Come to think of that, I may have seen a few others in theaters in that time period as well. Of course, this does depend on how we're defining "childhood". However, I didn't see Mulan for years after it came out, and I never saw Beauty and the Beast or Fantasia at all.

Well, the threesome was the obvious route. Did you see the look on Esmeralda's face when Quasi and Phoebus were hugging? It was all, "Oh, look, my two boyfriends have decided to be gay. How sweet." :B I actually didn't consider Esmeralda/Djali, but now that you brought it up, I think I just might ship it. XD It is a little het for me, but then again, Djali's a girl in the book. So. Shipping time~!

I like that idea with the hallucinations. Shame it didn't go through. I think that would have been pretty cool.

Oh, yeah, there it is. I don't know how I missed that. Say, this is just a suggestion, but have you ever thought about implementing a tag or memories system? It might be useful for people like me who get hopelessly lost. :P
