Really late post ftw.

Rereading Oh My Goddess (after, what, five years?). Currently on volume 10. I'd forgotten how much I love this manga. It's so emotional and really sweet and original and I just... I love it so much. I'd definitely classify it as one of my favorites of all time. It doesn't help that the art is so good, either. That hair. :|

Also, ever hear of Pixlr? If not, go ahead and click on that. I'll wait.
Okay, so, isn't that amazing? It's Photoshop. In your browser. I am going to get so much more art done from now on.

Also unrelatedly. I love how my OCs always turn out so hot when other people draw them. I guess this means I'm good at creating hot characters. :P

HEY GUYS

I know some of you are probably tired of me shoving this webcomic down your throats at every possible opportunity (and I apologize)

but Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name is pretty much the best webcomic that ever I read

and I need people to squee over it with

just sayin'
vethica: (italy bff)
...why does this make so much sense. It's not exactly what I was looking for, but dang. Who knew that Hetalia and JCA were two great tastes that went great together?

(Maybe I will stop making a million posts about JCA sometime ever. But don't count on it.)

So I had a dream where Christopher Columbus and Sadako/Samara from The Ring were BFFs. I don't... I don't even know anymore. But then I had one about Rick Murray, so it was all good.

Didn't finish Genshiken in time for vacation to be over. I think I made a valiant effort, though. It's definitely the most episodes of one series I've seen under my own power. (Yes, I know how sad that is.) Also, continuing to make progress in Fire Emblem. I'm on chapter 12 and no one's died yet. ^_^ (Yes, that took entirely too many restarts.)

Pokémon fans on my flist: you might want to check out [livejournal.com profile] birdboy2000's recently completed fic, Love, War, and Pokemon Battles. And no, I'm not just reccing it because I'm biased. :P I've read the thing and it is epic and well-written and worldbuildy and long, and I don't think enough people will read it and that saddens me. So. Yes. Check it out maybe.

And, uh, Hetalia fans, you should watch SkadiPirate's videos. They are good and have good music.
vethica: (italy bff)
Things that have made me ridiculously happy in the past 24 (more or less) hours:
- Hetalia Day 2009 with my dork friends
- Seeing the Astro Boy movie immediately afterward with said dork friends
- Szayel's dub voice fffffff
- The answer to the New York Times acrostic (if you've done it you'll know why)

Also, I have been playing Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia a whole lot lately. (And I still have to actually pay Momo for it at some point. ._.;;) I really like this game. It's not a "true" Pokémon game, sure, but it's gotten me to care about the storyline and characters more than any other Pokémon game's done. And the writing is hilarious. If any Pokémon fans out there are looking for something to occupy themselves while waiting for HG/SS, you could really do a lot worse.

GUYS GUYS GUYS

I PROBABLY HAD ALL KIND OF OTHER STUFF TO POST BUT THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT

HOUROU MUSUKO GOT AN LJ COMMUNITY

JOIN IT JOIN IT

(And to anyone who's unaware of Hourou Musuko: it's awesome, it's cute, it's super realistic, it's on the internet. Read it maybe? :3)
vethica: (Default)
Okay, so, just learned something! Apparently the late great Tony Jay, voice of Frollo... was also the "We've got to have MONEY!" guy from the Tom and Jerry movie. I'm not sure I needed to know that. D:

Btw, if you ever need something to amuse yourself with for a bit, here is a shiny internet toy: Translation Party. Y'know, if you ever need an alternative to Babelfish or Lost in Translation. It translates your sentence from English to Japanese and back until it reaches equilibrium. Sadly, I couldn't get it to make me something sufficiently funny for an example. There was, however, this:
"The contrysides were nice and the plants were singing and the birds and the sun was almost down from the top of the sky."
->
"Pavilion Sunday, Ito, birds and plants contrysides, he and I are singing in the rain from above, is heaven."
Which I like. it almost sounds poetical. Anyway, go, be amused.

So I've started reading this incredibly adorable manga. It's called Hourou Musuko, and it's a slice-of-life about two transgendered kids. I'm really into it, and I'm not usually this into mangas I read online. So. Yeah. *goes off to read it some more*

Nothing else to report except school started. Fmrrr.
vethica: (Default)
Speaking of Disney movies (we were doing that, right?): I know I'm a loser who only saw about four* of them during her childhood proper, and it's really sad that it took me until yesterday to watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame. But dang, that is a good movie. I think it just elbowed its way right in there under The Lion King as one of my favorite Disney movies. I mean, the music alone is excellent, but then you add in the characters and the plot and everything, and, wow. Suffice it to say that it's becoming my latest short-term obsession. And I need to acquire the soundtrack. OF COURSE I DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU GUYS THIS STUFF THOUGH BECAUSE YOU ALL HAD NORMAL CHILDHOODS. 8D (Although I have no idea how this movie got away with a G rating. IMO some of the stuff it deals with really isn't for kids. Which, y'know, is part of why I like it. But anyway.)

* Three if you don't count The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh as an actual movie.

Also, since I may not get a chance to post something later, I'm leaving again tomorrow for vacation. I'll be back next Tuesday. And then school starts. =_=

P.S. Apparently in Japanese, the @ sign is known as "naruto". This should not be so funny.
vethica: (Default)
Having begun reading T.H. White's The Once and Future King, I finally realize that Dan Dreiberg was not just being a Disney geek when he named his ship Archimedes. But that will still be my headcanon. Because Dan is totally enough of a dork to do that. (The book is quite good, by the way, and a classic. Just putting that out there.)

I really need to watch The Sword in the Stone sometime. Some kind soul's uploaded it to YouTube, so I don't suppose I have an excuse.

Whyyy are my posts so boring.

Ponyo's hot dad is so hot --

"How hot is he?"

Ponyo's hot dad is so hot that my bookmark folder for him contains only 8 fewer pages than my one for SPHFWLKaiB. Which is quite a feat. Although I don't generally go specifically looking for pictures of SPHFWLKaiB, and there are a lot more likely to be multiple pictures of him to a page. So I guess it's not that impressive. And yes, I know I am probably the only person who thinks Ponyo's hot dad is hot. Whatever. He has nice hair.

WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS GO SEE PONYO. It has a good dub.

No, this question isn't several days old, what are you talking about. >_>

Anyway. I know I have plugged this to some of you previously, but I recently found this really cool site called Musicovery. You tell it your mood and some genres, and it comes up with a playlist for you. You kind of have to fiddle with the parameters a bit (at first it seemed to think I was a stoner), but finally I got it on something that was totally my sound. Here are a couple of the bands it played for me that I really like:

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal, Mykonos
Shea Seger - Last Time, Clutch
Anberlin - Inevitable, Paperthin Hymn

So yes, I like that website. And I know other people swear by Pandora, but I tried that and all it did for me was make me want to listen to more Cake. So. Yes.

*wishes she had something else to say ever*

Yet another meme, because I have no life, and also apparently never update LJ anymore.

RULES: Comment and I'll LJ stalk you to find THREE FANDOMS you apparently love. And then you answer these questions about them!

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

TMBG are apparently a fandom now. :P )

And, as is traditional, I conclude with something totally irrelevant:
"In the Watchmen: The End is Nigh game, the NPC thugs taunt Nite Owl by referring to Rorschach as 'your little girlfriend.'"
HAVE I EVER MENTIONED HOW HARD I SHIP DAN/RORSCHACH YOU GUISE @_@

P.S. PLAY DISGAEA.

Okay okay guise

Something really important is going down on the intertubes

Here is a link to a Youtube video that will explain

... am I doin it rite

P.S. TYMA (or other Star Wars fans), YOU MUST SEE THIS. NOW. Not an April Fool's joke, promise.
vethica: (Default)
(which should be about one of you, heh)

Grell and Sebastian. Come on. There has to be something that can be done with this. Someone at least has to make an AMV.

And to those who haven't seen Kuroshitsuji, I really encourage you to. There's drama, horror, comedy, a handsome butler who kills people with kitchen implements, a comic relief cast with actual plot relevance, and, oh yes, tons of flaming gay. (O.A., you'll especially like it; the main character is about twelve, and the amount of implied shota involving him is pretty astronomical.) Heck, while I'm at it, I also encourage you to listen to Belle and Sebastian; their music is some of the best I've ever heard, especially on "If You're Feeling Sinister".

And now for something completely irrelevant: I totally always thought Frida Kahlo would be, well, ugly (I mean, wouldn't you with self-portraits like these?). But I looked her up and it turns out she was actually kind of pretty. Who'da thunk?
vethica: (Default)
Another random unrelated stuff post, aren't those fun? :B

Don't you hate it when you're rereading fanfics you used to like years ago, and it turns out they're filled with gratuitous fangirl Japanese? Yeah, me too.

Almost directly related, in my youth I had a crush on Vegeta for a time, and afterwards I could never remember what it was I saw in him. Well, I just figured it out: Chris Sabat's voice. Seriously, compare. 1999 version (which, yes, is Chris Sabat, but imitating Brian Drummond)? Thoroughly unattractive, actually kinda freaky. 2007 version? INSTANT HOTNESS *_*. *goes off to watch more DBZ*

Also, another hot guy topic (look at me actually connecting my random stuff, whee). Serious question here: why does everyone hate Szayel so much? This cut contains SPHFWLKaiB-related whining. )

To wrap up: here, have another Phoenix Wright: The Musical song. It's been stuck in my head recently and I love Cody's singing.
vethica: (Default)
Okay, guise. So my newest fandom/obsession/craze/thingy:

SANDMAN.

fffffff. Okay, first, it's Neil Gaiman, so you know there's no way it can't be good. Second, it's so dang engrossing. Third, it's got something for everyone. Horror? Check. Romance? Check. Mythology? Check. Weird mythology? Check. Anthropomorphic personifications of concepts that begin with the letter "D"? Check. And fourth... it's Neil Gaiman. I am not very good at reccing things, but please, please don't let my bad description turn you off it. Check it out. For me?

Note: Side effects may include the song "Mr. Sandman" by the Chordettes getting stuck in your head for unspecified amounts of time. You were warned.

Also, I am not gonna lie here, I actually went "kawaii!" when I saw the chibi Dream and Death in "A Parliament of Rooks". I think that's the first time I've ever used that word non-sarcastically. And it turns out there's a whole book about the Little Endless and aren't they just the cutest things? *_*

And, uh... is it wrong to have a crush on the anthropomorphic personification of Dream? (This person prettied him up some, but you get the idea.) 'Cause... fffffffffff.
vethica: (Default)
I ramble about and rec a huge amount of YouTube Poops )

Also, I tricked out my userinfo, check it out because I need validation. :\
vethica: (Default)
Fans of Phoenix Wright: THIS IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT LINK YOU WILL EVER CLICK IN YOUR LIFE (that has to do with PW, anyway).

Yeah, I know what you're saying. "Musical remakes of popular lawyer games? Everyone does those!" But this one is different. In this one, the songs... are actually good. Seriously. And so is the singing. This person has a bunch of videos of them. (and here is a storyboard of my favorite one for no real reason) Check them out. They won't disappoint.
vethica: (Default)
... because a minute to look up my homework ends up becoming two and a half hours reading the Super Smash Bros. kink meme.

(Yes, I know what it sounds like, but the stuff in there is surprisingly decent for a kink meme. Like half of it is just fluff, it's great. Also, there is a SAMUS/SNAKE BODYSWAP FFFFFFFFFF)

And I guess while I'm linking things, have an awesome video. Even though I'm pretty sure this song was actually created specifically for use in this video, it still has so much untapped AMV potential, seriously. For instance, I am shocked - shocked, I tell you - that no one has made one about Pegasus. I'M THUPER, THANKS FOR ASKING~~~

And what else? Uh I guess I beat Palmer if that's important. Gracie is a man (well, male giraffe)? I know I had something else to post here.
